Frequently Asked Questions
July 2020 Update:
We have resumed all weekend classes in addition to weekday classes. To do our part, we are keeping class sizes smaller than usual, and we are in the middle of our expansion and are using the additional space as a result. What does this mean, we now have 6,000 square feet of school space, combined with smaller class sizes, we are well equipped to keep students and staff at safe distances at all times. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
We look forward to continuing the high quality instruction combined with our state of the art equipment students have come to expect from from the VA School of Metal.
Are there age requirements for class?
Nope! If you are under 18, you can attend class as long as you have parent or guardian approval.
Are there prerequisites for attending class?
No, the Virginia School of Metal does not require previous work experience or a GED/diploma in order to attend class. Just bring a good attitude and close-toed shoes!
What should I bring to class?
We have all the safety gear you need, but it is your job to wear cotton or denim clothing, since polyester materials burn easily. We also require appropriate footwear: close-toed shoes at the very least, and work boots are recommended. If you have your own leather work gloves, you are more than welcome to bring them if you’ll be comfortable!
